Computer Cable is made up of two or more wires running side by side and is bonded, twisted, or braided together to form a single assembly, the ends of which can be connected to two devices, enabling the transfer of electrical signals from one device to the other. Cables are used for a wide range of purposes, and tailored for each purpose.
Cable Management refers to the installation of equipment that secures cables for electrical services. The term is used for products as well as workmanship. Cable management is important in information technology (IT), communications, and power distribution. Cable management both supports and contains cables. Cable management makes maintenance and changes to the cable system easy. CableSupply offers products such as patch panels, patch cords, cable runways, ladder rack runway extensions, J-Hooks, and much more.

Computer Cable by the foot, custom lengths available. CableSupply.com wants you to have the exact length of cableComputer Cable by the foot, custom lengths available. CableSupply.com wants you to have the exact length of cable you need. Browse our Custom Length Bulk Ethernet Cable and never go over in length again. Cat5e solid custom length Ethernet cable or Cat6 solid Ethernet cable is available in a PVC jacket, plenum-rated jacket, or outdoor UV-rated jacket. Cat6 and Cat5e UV custom length Ethernet cable is made to protect against the damaging effects of the sun and from outdoor weathering. We carry solid custom length Ethernet cable applicable for voice, data, or video transmission and is a 4-pair unshielded twisted pair marked on the jacket with sequential foot markers. Our Bulk Ethernet cable is verified compliant with EIA/TIA standards by UL and ETL. There are 3 major categories of cable offered by the foot at CableSupply.com. They are Ethernet Cable, Speaker Cable, and Coaxial Cable. Our Ethernet Cable by the foot comes in 3 Types: PVC, Plenium, and Outdoor-Use/UV/CMX. PVC is used often as it is cheap and is a good solution for indoor areas where people aren't sitting or standing. Plenum rated cable is also a great indoor solution. It conforms more to fire standards so it is going to cost you a bit more. It perfect for ceilings and other areas that share air with populated spaces. It helps to bring down the risk of damage in the case of a fire. UV-protected cabled is diferent from PVC and Plenum in that it has a jacket that is resistant to UV rays that the sun puts out. As you would probably guess, this means that UV-protected cable is more ideal for an outside installation.
- RG6, RG59, Coaxial Cable
RG6, RG59, Coaxial Cable aka Coax Cable, is cable generally used for audio and video signal. RG6, RG59, Coaxial CableRG6, RG59, Coaxial Cable aka Coax Cable, is cable generally used for audio and video signal. RG6, RG59, Coaxial Cable is highly shielded due to the weak nature of radio signals. RG6, RG59, Coaxial Cable makes an ideal medium to send signals over. RG6, RG59, Coaxial Cable consists of an inner core cable made of copper which is the cable that the signal is sent on, this core cable is coated with a plastic insulator which is then covered in aluminum foil as well as a metallic woven shield generally consisting of aluminum or copper. The outside of the insulation and shielding is a plastic coating.
There are two major types of coaxial cable: RG-6 and RG-59. RG-59 coaxial cable's sole use is for CCTV (closed circuit television) applications. RG-59 coax is often used for low powered video and base-band video frequencies such as composite video mostly found in security camera use. RG-6 coaxial cable is used to route cable television signals to and within homes replacing RG-59 as the standard for CATV (cable television). RG-6 is also used for most professional video applications. Both RG-59 and RG-6 coaxial cable come in PVC and Plenum coating.
Coaxial cables, though not as popularly used as it once was, can be used to create Ethernet networks. More commonly, its used for television and radio signals. Coaxial cable is layered several times to help protect the cable from cross-talk or leakage of signal. The single center cable is either a single copper wire, a stranded copper wire, or a copper coated wire. This layer is then covered by a plastic insulating layer, then a woven metal shield and finally by a plastic sheathing.
There are three common types of coax cable: RG6, RG59, and RG59 Siamese. RG6 coaxial cable is much thicker than RG59 coaxial cable which gives it a stronger signal. Its commonly used for satellite usage because of its higher GHz intensity and extra shielding than the RG59 has. RG59 Siamese coaxial cable has the ability to run a signal as well as power, it has single coaxial wire but it also has an eighteen gauge pair that can carry AC or DC power to a video camera. Both the coaxial and the stranded pair exist in different but connected shielding.
Cat5E, Cat6, Cat6A, Cat7 Computer Cable
Cat5E, Cat6, Computer Cable (aka LAN Cable), and Cat6A and Cat7 Twisted Pair Cable is availableCat5E, Cat6, Computer Cable (aka LAN Cable), and Cat6A and Cat7 Twisted Pair Cable is available. A LAN is a network that connects devices such as computers or printers to each other and then will connect out to the internet or phone lines via a WAN (wide area network). The cable that connects all of the devices in a LAN today is Ethernet cable. This cable comes in Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat7; each is progressively faster and a cleaner connection than its predecessor but Cat6 Ethernet cable is the most common. The Ethernet cable wiring consists of 4 pairs: white/orange and orange, white/green and green, white/blue and blue, and white/brown and brown. Each of these pairs of wire is twisted onto each other and the four pairs are also twisted. The tighter the twist on the cable the cleaner the signal is as this reduces crosstalk or EMI (electro-magnetic-interference). When running the initial cables in a LAN, bulk cable is used. Bulk ethernet cable comes in boxes of 1000ft but at CableSupply.com you can purchase 50ft Ethernet cable, 100ft Ethernet cable, or any desired length of cable for smaller applications. Within the network patch cords are used to connect computers to switches and crossover cables are used to connect similar devices.
